Welcome to Penny Lane

Penny Lane is the most famous lane in the world, immortalised by the song written by The Beatles. Every year visitors from around the globe visit Penny Lane. Up until 2010 there was nothing to see and nothing to do. That has now changed! Penny Lane is becoming very bohemian.

Penny Lane Cakes is just across the road. This is the shop that was featured in the song 'Free as a Bird'. If you go there today you will be made very welcome by the staff that will be happy for you to take pictures.

Further down the road we have St Barnabas Church. Sir Paul McCartney sang there when he was a choir boy. Later on Sir Paul stood as best man when his brother Mike married his wife Rowena. Every year during the August bank holiday the Church opens its doors and welcomes the many tourist that visit Penny Lane.

There is also us, the Penny Lane Development Trust! We're a charity that supports local groups to engage in community life. Why not call in and see us? We hope the links above have been useful. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us!
