A group of local young women contacted PLDT and asked if they could get involved in a youth project. When consulting with the women it was agreed that they wished to start a book reading project that would support them in their GCSE's.

The young women took the initiative and booked the local library for 6 weeks on a Saturday afternoon for approximately 3 hours. They were able to join the library (some of the women had not had the opportunity to join a local library before) this was a new experience for them.

The librarian was invited to give a talk on what facilities and opportunities the local library could offer the group to support them further. Two of the young women took the opportunity to explore the learning of a new language. This opportunity arose due to being a newly joined member of the library. The young woman was able to take CD's out on loan and learn from home.

At the end of the project the group booked a trip out to the theatre to see a production called 'Whistle down the Wind'. This was the first time many of this group has been to the theatre and the performance was enjoyed by all.
