A group of local young people approached Penny Lane Development Trust and asked if they could get involved in a youth project, so in October 2009, 2 members of PLDT staff and 2 volunteers took 8 young people to the capital city, London.

A group of local young people approached PLDT and asked if they could get involved in a youth project. After consultation, youth workers at PLDT agreed to support the group in putting together a YOF bid (Youth Opportunities Funding bid). The group wanted to go to London to see the architecture as the majority of the group were studying Art and Literature at GCSE level.

The group was successful in being awarded a grant from the YOF.

In October 2009, 2 members of staff and 2 volunteers took 8 young people to London. It was an amazing weekend. We stayed at a 4 star youth hostel in Earls Court. The group toured the following places:

  • Hyde Park
  • Covent Garden
  • Tate Gallery
  • Millennium Bridge
  • Abbey Road
  • Hard Rock Café
  • St. Paul's Cathedral
  • Carnaby Street
  • Oxford Street
  • Knightsbridge
  • Shakespears Globe

The behaviour was impeccable and the group of young people are a credit to themselves and to Liverpool.
