Saturday the 25th of August 2012 will be a day to remember. The skies opened gloriously, visitors from the community and around the globe gathered up and Penny Lane celebrated 50 years of the Beatles!
Penny Lane Development Trust opened their gates once again to host an event full of fun, music and laughs to celebrate the International Beatles weekend.
Entertainment was brought to local and tourists alike by the fantastic bands that played in our outdoor concert such as The Wednesdays, The Liverpool Ukulele Orchestra and The Mersey Beatles.
While all our visitors were dancing to their idols' greatest hits and enjoying the sunny afternoon, we had a surprise visit from none other than our John Lennon and Yoko Ono look-alikes who were delighted to pose for photo ops.
Pieces of art and gifts from our souvenir shop were raffled and all the lucky winners couldn't help showing their prizes around, our dedicated team of volunteers happily made everyone a cuppa and tour guides popped in to say hello; there was a real buzz in Penny Lane.
All the staff at PLDT would like to thank every single one of the lovely people that made this event such a fantastic experience and we really hope to be seeing you again next year here ... beneath the suburban skies!
